Cadbury Brunch Bars Sunday, Apr 26 2009

This is one of my all-time favourites snack bars – Cadbury Brunch Bars. I can only find this in Australia, so probably the Cadbury team in Singapore has not brought it in yet.

Anyway, I’m a big fan of such snack bars because they’re so yummy and good on-the-go! They don’t require any cooking of any sorts, perfect for those busy bees. But of course, these bars can NOT replace a good meal.

These bars contain oats, rice crispies and bran, bound together with honey and coated in chocolate. They have a wide variety of flavours, but so far, only the Hazelnut appealed to me. The berry flavour was not really that good, in my opinion, as the berries were a little tart and squiggly. Not a good match with the crispy cereals to me. The hazelnut flavour, on the other hand, was an instant hit with me. I loved the toasted nutty flavour and crunch.

Took Be Gi Saturday, Apr 11 2009

I’m sure this place is no secret among the Korean foodies in Perth. It’s a family-run authentic Korean restaurant, right smacked in the heart of town – very convenient location. It’s a small place so be sure to reach there early if you’re rocking up for dinner. There’s also a Korean grocery store just beside the restaurant, so you can pick up some stuff first if the queue is pretty long.

  • Location: Pier St, Perth (between Murray St and Murray St) – just round the corner from Criterion Hotel
  • Opening hours: Open 6 days (closed on Tuesdays) from 11:00am to 10:00pm
  • Contact number: +61 8 9225 4557

Obviously, these are old photos cos I haven’t been back in Perth for ages, but when I passed by the place during my recent trip (to visit my new niece), it was still packed to the brim with a long queue outside!

Do try:

  • spicy tofu soup
  • rice cakes in spicy sauce
  • ginseng tea
  • korean kimchi pancake with seafood
  • sizzling seasoned beef (bulgogi)

Pasta Fagioli Thursday, May 17 2007

so we went out to the authentic italian corner for lunch today, and i decided to have something different. something i’ve never heard or tasted before. great choice! i had this pasta with beans soup, called pasta fagioli, and now i just can’t stop thinking about it. it’s really simple, it’s simply tomato broth with pasta and veggies and i can’t believe how delicious it was!
