Homemade garlic spread Monday, May 31 2010

Garlic bread is something that goes very well with cream-based soups and pasta. I had a craving 2 days ago when we had some homemade bread and I wanted something savoury. So I decided to make my own garlic bread spread.

I have seen it on TV before (I think the cook made dill butter?) and wanted to recreate it seeing how easy it was.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp soft spread
  • 1 heaped tsp minced garlic
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • dried herbs (I was out of basil, so only added oregano)

Method:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together and spread on bread. Toast for a couple of minutes to get the bread crispy and golden.

It’s so easy, you can make a container and keep it in the fridge for those sudden garlic bread cravings.

Strawberry with Balsamic Vinegar Sunday, Oct 18 2009

Looking for new ways to eat strawberries? Want something easy? Try this!

Ingredients:

  • 1 punnet strawberries, rinsed, hulled & sliced into halves
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (can also use other types of sugars)

Method:

  1. Sprinkle sugar over strawberries.
  2. Add in balsamic vinegar and mix.
  3. Allow strawberries to stand in vinegar for 30mins to 1 hour.
  4. Enjoy the strawberries!

The vinegar will add another dimension to the berry flavour. Try it and you’ll know what I mean.
